Acevedo:Revisited

It has been more than a year since David Acevedo had an individual exhibition. Since the moving and evolution of his studio into what is now daas Gallery, he has focused solely on being a curator for other exhibitions, director of the gallery and coordinator of events; more than being an artist. Just recently he found the time and muses to produce a new collection of exiting and vibrant pieces. He named it Acevedo:Revisited.

Acevedo:Revisited is a series of paintings that depict the search for a new perspective. In no particular order, these pieces were created by experimenting with new mediums and subjects. There are surrealist pieces as well as pop-art, abstracts and expressionism in the collection; however, one thing that carries on in Acevedo’s work are the vibrant colors and bold lines. These pieces have the same presence and passion that characterizes Acevedo’s work placing him as one of the top contemporary artists of South West Florida. “I am very proud and excited about my new work. I have truly put my heart and soul into it. It is tough to be away from your passion for so long and trying to recover your north is a bit tricky, but I think I managed to produce a good show”, says Acevedo.

The Opening Reception is scheduled for Friday, April 3rd, 2009; in conjunction with the Downtown Fort Myers Art Walk. There will be a special, limited edition, full color catalog available for purchase featuring some of the new pieces, prologues from local arts personalities and information about the artist. These catalogs will be signed and numbered by the artist.

This collection will be on display through April 24th, 2009. For more information about David Acevedo, please visit http://acevedostudio.tripod.com/ or http://www.daasgallery.com/. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
